Three Uses of Cellophane for Your Next Move

If you’ve moved before, you’re already familiar with the usual packing supplies and their purposes. Boxes and crates come in different sizes to hold a variety of items. Tape is used to close them up and colored tape can be handy for labeling if you’re using a color system. Bubble wrap and paper are great for keeping things protected inside. But have you considered using cellophane when moving? It’s more useful than you might think.

Cellophane is a flexible wrap that sticks only to itself, so you don’t need tape or glue with it. Some of its benefits include:

  • It doesn’t leave any sticky residue or cause damage when removed.
  • It comes in different sizes.
  • You can get it with an easy-to-use dispenser.
  • When stretched, it wraps tightly around items.

For your next move, here are three ways you can make use of cellophane:

  • Furniture with Drawers – Moving dressers or nightstands can be tricky. You either have to remove the drawers or find a way to stop them from sliding open. Taking the drawers out takes extra effort and tape could damage the paint or wood. Cellophane is a great solution. Simply wrap it around the entire piece from top to bottom to hold the drawers in place.
  • Fragile Items – Instead of using bubble wrap and tape for each piece, you can use cellophane to pack delicate items in a box. It makes the process quicker and saves time. You can also wrap it around TVs and computer screens to give them extra protection from damage.
  • Fish Tanks – Moving fish can be difficult but if your tank is five gallons or smaller, you don’t need to take everything apart. Just cover the top with cellophane to prevent water from spilling, then place the tank in a Styrofoam box to keep the glass safe from breaking.
